John J. Kakacek
John J. Kakacek is a 1981 graduate of the University of Illinois (Highest
Honors). Upon his later graduation in 1984 from the University of Illinois
College of Law, he began a litigation-oriented general practice with the
law firm of Stack & Filpi. In 1989, that firm became Stack, Filpi
& Kakacek, Chartered and Mr. Kakacek became a Managing Director. In
1995, Mr. Kakacek became a partner in the law firm of Kakacek and Lingner,
where he continued to engage in a litigation-oriented general practice
of law. He is a member of the Federal Trial Bar for, and admitted to practice
before the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois.
He also has been admitted to practice before the U.S. Tax Court, the U.S.
Court of International Trade, the U.S. District Court for the Eastern
District of Wisconsin, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal
Circuit, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit, and the U.S.
Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit. He has arbitration, jury and
bench trial experience, and has handled appeals in state and federal courts.
Mr. Kakacek joined Stamos & Trucco LLP in May, 2003 and was named a Partner in 2012. His practice
is concentrated in commercial litigation, attorney malpractice defense
and corporate counseling.
